Hi Ryan, Is this of any use to my company?”
Keywords in your domain name work very well, but south-wales too broad. If they had cardiffstorage.co.uk it would be better. There were 320 searches on Google last month for ‘south wales storage’, 2.5k for ‘cardiff storage’.
The more niche the higher the conversion rate and the quicker the results. ‘cardiff self storage’ has 590 monthly searches. AdWords clicks are going to cost £4, 9 people are going to see your advert and you’ll get 1 per day clicking it (Google’s estimates and always wrong. A conversion for me is getting someone who wants self storage in Cardiff in contact with you, a conversion for you getting the sale. I still haven’t set a site up for this, never find the time, but I have started with an example http://www.microsite-example.co.uk/cost/.
I had this last month and took great pleasure in buying the domain name which was due to expire from under their noses… at a vastly reduced cost to the one they wanted to charge me for… agreeing with the comments above about relevancy – mine was actually my company name which was why I wanted it – if you get in yourself you do have the chance to buy it before they do – this is how they make their money… a quick check on the domain will tell you the status and when it is due to go back in to the pot for anyone to acquire.. the type of company who contacted us both makes their living doing this.
