Coffee is a drink that undeniably gets many of us along the week, whether its what we drink to start our day off, or our favorite drink at work- its a tradition.

But can coffee go further and encourage mass positive change around the world?

The answer is yes.

Starbucks, the global coffee giant, has recently announced their scheme to employ 2,500 refugees across Europe as part of a worldwide hiring plan.

The company’s choice comes closely following a decision last month, where Starbucks initially publicized its plans to hire 10,000 refugees across 75 countries.

Surprisingly, the project revealed to not work in the businesses favour; they faced fierce disapproval from many potential customers and Trump supporters using the #BoycottStarbucks across social media.

In response to the protests, Starbucks stated that they would further increase their previously announced aim of employing 10,000 veterans and military spouses by 2018.
On a more positive note, Starbucks hasn’t faced much criticism on its latest announcement regarding Europe hires.

Firstly introducing the scheme in Britain, Germany, Spain, Portugal, Austria, Switzerland and The Netherlands, the coffee company will then expand out to more countries, once the project has been rolled out.
