An Introduction into Autoresponders and eBooks
Just before we begin with today’s topic, I’d like to quickly add some information regarding web pages and how to add web pages to your site. Firstly, you may want to change the title of your web page, this can be done through your HTML editor by accessing “Format”, and then “Page and title properties”. Please remember your page name is different to your file name. F.T.P (File Transfer Protocol) is a network protocol used to move files between a customer and server on a computer network. At your hosting company, everything you upload has to go into a certain DIRECTORY, this directory is called: public_html. In order to be able to upload from your computer at home, we need to download and install a FTP client.
Autoresponders
When creating an online business you must tell the company where you brought your DOMAIN NAME and where your HOSTING company is. These are called nameservers, you only need to do this once. There are 3 tools required when starting a web business…..
- Domain
- Hosting Account
- Autoresponder
An ‘Autoresponder’, is basically a programme that automatically generates a pre-set response that is sent to a particular email/person. Please remember, uploading your index file will REPLACE an index file that you may already have online. You can however upload your index1.html file-and index2.html.
Building a List
97% of people who set up a website in order to make money try and sell immediately. A product is not a business, neither is a website. A business requires customers, or in web terms, you’re LIST.
Any web business works in fundamentally the same way as creating a standard website, and that is creating a website that is of a certain topic. Then you give something away for free, to build a list. Once you begin to have a list you finally market related products to them. Instead of asking ‘How can I make more money’, ask yourself, ‘How can I provide more value’. Imagine you only had a responsive list of only 300 people, they bought a product through you that is £27, then you get a 50% commission = (£13.50), which would work out to £4,000/month. Which isn’t too shabby if you ask me.
eBooks
An eBook is an electronic version of a printed book which can be read on a computer or a specifically designed handheld service. There are 4 main sources of content: Public domain, Forums, Private Label Rights (PLR), Articles. Any eBook has the file extension .pdf , a PDF is a file format for capturing and sending electronic documents in exactly the intended format. To create an eBook, we need to CONVERT the document we are working on into a PDF, we do this by downloading some free PDF conversion software.
In order to upload the eBook and getting it online you must save the eBook as “eBook.pdf”, then upload the PDF to your hosting company.
