Click through rate increases, one year after Google drops right-side ads

In the early months of February last year, Google rolled out a substantial change of removing the pay-per-click (PPC) adverts from the right side of the domain and changing their placement on the search engine results page.
The question on everyone’s mind was: what does this mean for marketers?
Well, over a year on and the stats are in, and it turns out that since the re-positioning, the click through rate (CTR) for adverts in the top four places has increased considerably:
