Interactive media essentially can refer to any type of media that directly reacts to a users input. The most commonly used and well known types are digital, allowing consumers to navigate and participate in activities; much unlike more conventional media’s books and newspapers.

Games:

The first type of interactive media is online and video games which require direct, active action and participation to play. Each game is designed uniquely to target and appeal to a certain audience, using social media sites such as YouTube, Facebook and Twitter to increase their fan base and brand awareness.

Social media platforms:

Each and every social media platform fits into the interactive media specification; they are interactive in almost every way. Social networking is all around us, and not only do the platforms allow us to post status updates and share photos and videos, they also let us hold digital conversations with real people.

Apps:

Apps are yet another great example of interactive media- referring to application software’s for mobile devices, such as weather, lifestyle and gaming apps.

Websites:

Different from straight-forward, traditional media’s with a logical sequence to the materials, websites contain information processed in methods which are able to be altered and updated at any point.

Virtual reality:

Virtual reality is an immersive digital experience where the user is presented with realistic images, sounds and other sensations creating a ‘virtual reality’.
